fabric

does anyone have any of this older fabric from the Sumatra range from Jinny Beyer?
this has been one of my staples and my supply has finally come to its end, luckily this piece lasted out the project I'm working on but would love it if I could find some sitting on a shelf in a shop somewhere for future use.

my day

well I've had a full week with being back at school and with Wednesday in between getting notes and samples ready.
Today I went up to Sydney where I teach once a month, caught the train up as the weather was threatening to turn nasty, I was able to catch up on some paper work and some crocheting on the trip, it takes a lot longer than driving but more relaxing and I even get to have a snooze on the way back as I have such an early start, talking about early starts, I will let you have a laugh at my expense.......

I have these great Indian summer shirts, 3 different colours of the one style with embroidery and sequins across the chest that look fabo with my green jeans with the blue and orange flowers, driving to the station at 7am my chest was a little scratchy under my seat belt, had a scratch and didn't think any more about it, taught for 3 hours and back on the train heading home, just before I get off the train I always get my car keys out of my bag and put them in my pocket so I don't have to fight for them as I get to the car, so out the keys come and I casually slide my hand down to put them in the pocket on my shirt and couldn't get them in and discovered the pockets had disappeared and so had all of the sequins ------- there is a lot to be said for good quality french seams and small label, they look just as good on the outside .........

HOW EMBARRASSMENT

I'm not a morning person and shouldn't be allowed to dress myself at that silly hour

Tomorrow I'm teaching a Hidden Wells class for The Illawarra Quilters, here's some samples I've been making this arvo, doesn't Lisa Walton's orange make the blocks sing

let's hope I have better luck dressing myself in the morning

productive day

I've had a productive day and done a little of my drawing homework, the first two had to be something organic

and this one we had to copy this Rubens painting UPSIDE DOWN........ now that was very challenging, it doesn't look to bad but turn it the right way up and the poor boy needs major eye surgery.

now I'm off to teach a class.

I didn't win..........

Now I can show you the whole quilt,
this is the second in a series based on "Ziggy the Zygo Cactus" that lives on my back verandah, called Late Bloomer #2,
this was my entry into Spotlights competition with the prize of a trip for 2 to the Houston Quilt Festival, unfortunately I didn't win but on the upside - I now have my class sample made.........

unexpected bonus

Today we were to go down the coast to visit our friends the Thompsons but 10 mins before we were to leave the skies opened up and we had a doozie of a thunder storm and as it was also pouring down at Tomerong we reluctantly decided to stay home, so as I had an unexpected day at home I decided to do some drawing homework.
The vase of flowers was started in class but I finished it off today, it is done with watercolour crayons, I really enjoy this medium.

We always have to do a follow up piece for homework in the same medium in our art journal, I always get overwhelmed when I have to find a subject so I decided on the photo of the yummy pears that I'd bought a few weeks ago.

here's the photo

Fun day

look at these proud faces, we had a fun class on Wednesday at The Quilters Garden making silk paper, they all went home with their piece framed ready to hang on the wall.

what I've been up to

sorry I haven't posted for a while, I've been bum up and head down getting a couple of pieces done with a Friday deadline, then Saturday I worked at the shop and had a great day as Nic was teaching a class and yesterday I watched the cars go round the race track while I rested ready for a busy week.

this is a peep at the corner of the piece that I entered into a competition that has a trip to Houston as the prize, fingers crossed.

and here is the bottom corner of the piece I've entered into a juried exhibition, it has silk paper and faux felt pieces with just a few beads

my week ahead -
tonight I teach a class, Tues - a sewing day with a few friends, Wed - kids class making silk paper, Thur - free woohoo, Fri - a trip down the coast with my sons to visit friends, Sat a class (adults) making silk paper then making it into a bowl then Sun I mentally regroup and get ready for the next week, and somewhere in there I need to do some catchup drawings for school as we go back next week, so I'd better got off here and start working on tonight's notes.
